Head off on a journey through time

Hallein Salt Mines whisk you off into the system of tunnels in the Dürrnberg and reveal the realm that the miners worked in at that time. Head out in the mysterious tracks of 'white gold' and enjoy the trip through the oldest mine open to visitors in the world. For those of you who want to venture a bit further into the past, we recommend a trip to the Celtic village in the spa town of Bad Dürrnberg, high above the Celtic town of Hallein.

Hohenwerfen Castle

Along with the many entertainment and cultural offers available, the impressive fortified castle dating from the 11th century also has a setting which is appropriate for celebrations and events. Special highlights of Hohenwerfen Castle:

Access to the castle is via a path (about 15 minutes walking time). For a surcharge you may avail of the lift direct to the upper castle courtyard. The castle is open to visitors between April and November. Meanwhile, you can still pay a visit to the impressive bird of prey show.

World of Ice Giants in Werfen

The World of Ice Giants in Werfen is the largest ice cave in the world. Here you get to experience majestic ice figures in giant halls, with light provided by historic carbide lamps and magnesium light.

Open daily between May and October.

Gut Aiderbichl

Animals in need find a good home in Gut Aiderbichl, which was set up by Michael Aufhauser in the year 2000. On an area spanning 100 hectares they get to enjoy plenty of land to graze on and in the spacious stalls they are provided with optimum living conditions.

Every year some 250,000 visitors come to experience the charming atmosphere and see the animals.

Open-air museum in Großgmain near Salzburg

Not far from the Hotel Bloberger Hof you find yourself in a "past time which is alive and well". Experience unique examples of historic, rural building tradition in Salzburg in this extensive museum.
An action-packed event calendar filled with fantastic offers for all ages ensures a variety-packed visit to Salzburg's open-air museum. A picturesque circular route takes you through six centuries of typical Salzburg building tradition. Those of you who don't want to go back in time can climb aboard the museum train and head through the area. Children in particular have great fun in the open-air museum.

On the adventure playground original water games, a slide and other fantastic play equipment await.

Kehlsteinhaus / Eagle's Nest in Obersalzberg

A worthwhile destination in nearby Bavaria - the Kehlsteinhaus. It was the American army who gave this impressive building its name: Eagle's Nest. The building is made up of walls which are metres thick and it is located in one of the most impressive places in the region - on the Kehlstein in Obersalzberg.

Originally constructed for Adolf Hitler for his 50th birthday, today visitors enjoy guided tours of the rooms. The Kehlsteinhaus can be access from the Bloberger Hof in your own car or via the guided tours, which include a trip to the Eagle's Nest.
